If they were making a movie about your life, what would it be called and which actor would play you?
If my life is successful in all the ways I hope, “Democracy and Diplomacy in the 21st Century” is a documentary, featuring interviews with world leaders, my close friends, and members of my family, including my brothers, my wife, my children, nieces, nephews, and several grandchildren. (Most of those are as-yet unidentified and/or unconceived.) Its makers will have sifted through old love-letters, course notes, and journals to reconstruct my early life, but I can’t tell you the names of the actors who might be around seventy years from now to play the younger me.
If I fail to achieve my goals while I’m alive, the story of my life will be a poignant tale of perseverance in the face of adversity, and hope for the future nevertheless.
Both of these may occur, as my goals are far larger than myself, and I imagine that they’ll still need work two hundred years hence.
