Flu. Ouch.
I have a flu, or flu-like symptoms – my muscles ache, the lymph nodes in my neck are swollen (big enough that I can feel them pressing into my neck when I turn my head), my head hurts… and I tried to take a bath tonight only to discover that my water heater had somehow been infiltrated with sediment. All the water from the hot tap was brown. Strangely, the cold water tap was running clear.
I figured this must mean I filled my hot tank with brown water earlier in the day, and that the water supply is now clear. It must have been when I took a shower this morning. My shower is filtered, and I was barely conscious anyway, so I could easily have missed the discoloration of the water. That usage (or some other similar recent usage) must have drawn dirty water in while the mains were turbulent.
Anyway, I just spent the past five hours diagnosing this problem, draining my water heater, and then refilling it. Do I get a hot bath as a reward? Not yet – I’ve got to wait for the water to warm up. I was really looking forward to that bath.
[Update: as I go to bed at 02:38, my body temperature is 100.5°F. I thought of taking my temp hours ago, but kept forgetting. I’m definitely having a hard time tracking. And it’s really time for me to sleep.]
