Yesterday’s meals…

Friday, February 13th, 2009

Breakfast, solo, was duck oatmeal, this time prepared with the glaze reduced from an already highly concentrated duck broth.

I simply postponed, and then skipped, lunch - first thinking I would eat soon (and that I was getting a lot done), then that I was eating soon anyway (an that I ought to wait). I ran a bunch of errands, including a trip to New Seasons, where I had a bite of a bagel from the “solutions” counter (which might, as it turns out, have contained eggs). Once home, I threw together a batch of my latest favorite flavor of Happiness(tm) Chocolate (which I think I’ll call “Brut”), and set to cleaning the place. My house was much more ready for company by the time I ran out the door.

Dinner, with my friend Maren, was an “Incan Bowl” at Blossoming Lotus: quinoa, beans, steamed kale, and sweet ginger sauce with tempeh and avocado. We bumped into Andy and Donna, too.

Dessert with Maren and Alexis was a ramekin each of vanilla coconut bliss and Brut Happiness(tm) chocolate.

Late lunch at the Rocking Frog

Wednesday, February 4th, 2009

I’m really very hungry. This is way too late to be eating lunch without having a snack. And so I’m glad to have this sandwich in front of me. It’s called a Kerouac: turkey bacon avocado, with lettuce and tomato. I got mustard in place of mayo, because they’ve no Vegenaise here. And a salad in place of chips, because really, do I need chips? No. Do I need salad? Yes.

Eaten while re-writing my essay on relationships, which I hope to submit for publication in the QUIP book at the end of February.
