Values and lifestyle
I’m a progressive political activist, which covers a lot of ground in both values and lifestyle. I’m generally inclined toward economic planning, fiscal responsibility, and social liberty, both in private and in public life. I’m a Quaker mystic (more details under Spirituality), and I endeavor to live the life I’m led to by the Spirit.
I’m excited about permaculture as a way of life, and urban ecovillage living in particular. I already have the house I hope to live in for the rest of my life, though I envision a few changes to it. Okay, a lot of changes. Too many to list here.
My long-term housing plan involves first finding a partner who I want to have move in with me (not, in itself, a snap decision). Then, after settling in together, I imagine that we might invite one to four friends to move in with us (one or two at a time, and very carefully chosen). One or two of those might be young friends of our own making.
As implied above, I’d like to have one or two children. I imagine I’ll refer often to childhood development research for guidance in their rearing, and test that guidance against the truth I find in my heart.
There’s a lot more about how I’m living in the intentional communities directory entry for my house.
I tend to throw myself into projects, which can consume a lot of my time.
